Kilimanjaro Climbing Machame Route , is known as the ”whiskey route” because of less tiresome. Kilimanjaro Climbing Machame Route has fascinating change of vegetation and beautiful landscapes. The route is challenging but it’s regarded as the most touristic Route. It has higher success rate to the summit of Kilimanjaro. Machame route is suitable for climbers having good size of physical plus mental health. All the our Climbers of this route need to have confident determination day after day.
Day 1: Machame Gate 1800mts/Machame Hut 3000mts:
The Journey will start as soon as you have been picked up from your hotel/lodge. After approaching and inspected you will climb gradually 18kms within the rain forest which attracts more unpredictable rainfalls even during dry season. The more you go up the route steepens especially after Lunch point. While passing within the forest, you will see different species of indigenous trees beside different species of flowers. On this route you will luckily see blue Monkeys at the lower parts of the forest plus some species of birds.
Day 2: Machame Hut/Shira Camp 3800mts:
You start exhaustively climbing within the heather Zone-the zone comprising short shrubs – beside different species of flowers. As you go up, you will experience great change of vegetation and you will find some parts hard while others easy. It’s your first time to see the summit Kibo if the weather is clear. At most it takes morning hours to climb up to the camp. For climbers who can’t make these hours to the Camp for Lunch, there’s a picnic point known as ”rock picnic site”. If you arrive in good condition at the camp you can have an option to go for evening excursion for acclimatization which is very important. Its 9kms climb.
Day 3: Shira/Barranco Camp 3976mts:
This day is very light though long as you start to feel the altitude. Start climbing regularly within the alpine desert up to Lava Tower 4600mts where you go for acclimatization. You then descend steeply to Barranco Camp. Take a rhythm which allows you to breathe normally. Often after 4200mts of the climb, majority of the climbers encounter headache. It’s advisory not to go to Lava Tower but go direct to the camp for those whose preventive measures have not given positive results. At the camp you will have almost the same conditions as those of the previous Camp. Total time of walking is 7-8hrs
Day 4: Barranc/Karanga Camp 3937mts:
Starts scrambling of the famous Barranco wall immediately after breakfast. The wall is visibly vertical, developing anxiety, though it has a zigzagging trail which goes up to 4200mts where the scramble ends without much difficulties as you climbers might have imagined. The route later descends within the moorland to the Valley ‘the last water point where it ascends steeply to the Camp. Distance covered is 6kms 4hrs climb.
Day 5: Karanga/Barafu Camp 4600mts:
It starts climbing regularly within the alpine desert to join the Rocky Zone up to around 4350mts where it ascends steeply to the base camp 4600mts. At Karanga Camp conditions are the same as of previous camp. Distance covered is 6 kms 3hrs climb.
Day 6: Barafu/Uhuru Summit 5985mts-Mweka Hut 3100mts:
You will start climbing more exhaustively within the rocks frustrating you just at the beginning though after 1hr 30mns there’s a visible trail which leads to the zigzags within the Volcanic Ashes that keeps climbing less difficult. The zigzag trail will take you to the first point of the Crater Rim Stella point though 400mts before this point will possibly frustrate you beside the freeze. To the summit from Stella point it’s a regular ascend though this final ascension requires a lot of attention and volunteering. There’s fatigue, vomiting, headache, thirst, Freezing, winds, difficulty in breathing etc. Analyze yourselves to prevent any problem before it before it becomes severe.
From the summit descend back to Base camp for Lunch or a branch and later descent within the alpine desert joining the heather zone to Mweka Camp for the last night of the itinerary
Day 7: Mweka Hut/Mweka Gate 1600mts
This is the last day of your itinerary. Descend within tropical forest to the gate 1600mts for celebration of giving certificates to those who made it to the summit plus Lunch. Later transfer to hotel/Lodge. End of Kilimanjaro Climbing
