Lions: Serengeti is believed to hold the largest population of lions in Africa due in part to the abundance of prey species. More than 3,000 lions live in this ecosystem. Serengeti, a UNESCO world heritage site is home to around 200,000 zebras, and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle joining the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Manyara produce a stockproof hedge, which is very durable among other similar kinds. A specimen of Euphorbia tirucalli can be found at the entrance of the gate. The Great Rift Valley belong in the faultline in the earth’s crust which stretches 8,000 kilometers (4,971 miles) from Turkey to the mouth of the Zambezi River in Mozambique. The fault is so massive that when astronauts landed on the moonm the Rift Valley was clearly visible to them. In the afternoon, you will be taken to the Airport for your flight back home. ITINERARY INCLUSIONS EXCLUSIONS TOUR PRICE ITINERARY Day 1: Safari to Lake Manyara National Park we depart at from hotel early in the morning to start our wildlife to Lake Manyara National Park. A small in size, but it is one of the most diverse reserves in the country. Lake Manyara covers two thirds of the park. At the backdrop is the wall of the Great Rift Valley, before which lies the ground water forest, areas of open grassland near the lake foreshore, and the Soda Lake. We enjoy a picnic lunch in this area, which consists of open grassy areas, hot springs, dense woodlands and steep mountainsides. Lake Manyara National Park is a birding paradise that has more than 350 species of bird. The park is also famed for its unique and elusive tree- climbing lions. Day 2: Safari Serengeti National Park Breakfast is taken early in the morning to allow an early departure through the Ngorongoro Crater and with a brief stop at Olduvai Gorge and over to the Serengeti National park. You will enter Serengeti via Naabi Hill Gate and go ahead with game drives throughout the afternoon then later drive to the lodge/tented camp for overnight. Day 3: Safari in Serengeti National Park If you wish to see the animals waking up for a new day and the nocturnal predators retire from a night out in the plains, then you may go for an early morning game drive before returning for breakfast. The rest of the day is then spent game viewing in the endless plains in search of lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, baboons, zebras, topis, impalas and many more. Serengeti is also home to many species of birds. Day 4: Safari to Ngorongoro Crater On this morning you are headed to the largest unbroken caldera in the world. Drive after breakfast to Ngorongoro Conservation Area via the Naabi Hill Gate and at after registration formalities at the Crater Rim you descend to the crater floor for a fun-filled day of game viewing. So close you will see animals and if lucky you will spot the Big Five’ on this single day. Ngorongoro Crater is often referred to as the Eighth wonder of the world or the Eden of Africa. We will arrange a private transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to a Lodge or Hotel in Arusha. You will stay at a Lodge or Hotel which will be beautifully designed which will be a perfect place for you to prepare for your Trip. We will gather in the Lodge/Hotel for a pre-safari briefing. Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park Early in the Morning we will take a drive to Tarangire National Park, for excellent game viewing. Tarangire is a park which offers some excellent sights. Generally in the dry seasons Tarangire comes alive as wildlife and birdlife congregate on the Tarangire River, which is a permanent source of water. We will spend the night in our lodge beautifully set inside the park with stunning views and a unique atmosphere. Dinner and overnight at Logde Day 3: Tarangire to Ngorongoro Crater This day again we will start our game drive early in the morning catching up the amazing group of elephant and nature of wild animals within the park. Early breakfast and then we make a half day game drive in Tarangire with picnic Lunch, Late afternoon we will be driving to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Ngorongoro is a special place in that it is a Conservation Area, not a National Park; this means that the whole area is managed for both the animals and the local Masai people who graze their cattle alongside the indigenous wildlife. During the drive in Ngorongoro we have a chance to glimpse something of the Masai way of life. When we reach there we will be stopping at the entrance gate, where there is a chance to learn more about this fascinating volcanic landscape, we will drive around the rim of the Crater itself, and from here we can look down and see the herd of wildebeest or buffalos. Finally we descend into the crater. The crater walls provide a natural sanctuary for the animals, which means there is plenty to see: lions, elephants, buffalo, rhino and leopard (if you are lucky). Dinner and overnight at Lodge Day 4: Ngorongoro to Serengeti We will be heading towards the Serengeti National Park. While on the way there is an opportunity to visit Olduvai Gorge. It is within this steep-sided ravine that Louis and Mary Leakey made some of the world’s most important archaeological discoveries in the 1950s. Here in a small museum we are able to see evidence of our ancestors that have been dated back 2.5 million years. After lunch we drive into the Serengeti itself and the rest of the afternoon is spent game viewing in the vast plains that are broken only by stands of acacia trees and the occasional kopjes. In December, January and February we will normally meet the migration with large herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle. There are always plenty of resident animals, such as giraffe, buffalo, and elephant, and many large predators such as lion, cheetah, and leopard. After our first day little game drive in Serengeti we will return to the camp for resting Dinner and overnight at the Camp in Serengeti Day 5: Full day game drive in Serengeti National Park We have another full day in this wonderful park, rising early to make the most of our time. Our guides will choose the best spotting locations for the time of year; we can spend time at the Hippo pool watching these majestic animals laze about in the cool water happily living alongside the crocodiles, watch a big pride of lions, be in the middle of the Great migration, sometimes surrounded by wildebeest, sometimes by zebras, which travel with the wildebeest. We drive from the wide open plains to the kopjes: these volcanic rocky outcrops provide protection and shelter for a wide variety of animals and from the top we can look out across the vast grasslands of the Serengeti. This diverse and interesting landscape will provide us with the ultimate in game viewing, we will hopefully see all of the plain games; elephants, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, lions and the elusive leopard and cheetah, as well as huge amounts of interesting bird life, from the elegant secretary birds to the flightless ostrich. We return to our camp for the night at Serengeti. Dinner and overnight at the Camp in Serengeti Day 6: Full day game drive in Serengeti National Park After a half day game drive in Serengeti national park drive to Karatu for Dinner and overnight at hotel/Camp. Day 7: Half day game drive in Lake Manyara National Park Today we drive to Lake Manyara National Park Late afternoon drive back to Arusha and transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport. This is one of Tanzania’s smaller parks but still offers a rewarding and diverse safari experience. The lakeshore at Manyara teems with birdlife, and while you are looking for the birds, you might spot one of the elusive tree-climbing lions. There are a surprising number of other large mammals and the striking cliffs on the Rift escarpment form a dramatic backdrop. After lunch we drive from the park to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). ITINERARY INCLUSIONS EXCLUSIONS TOUR PRICE ITINERARY Tour Details of Budget safari Tanzania Day 1 – Arusha National Park After breakfast, you’ll depart from your Accommodations and drive to the park. Your visit to Arusha National Park is a flexible one, as you’ll have three choices as to how you’d like to experience the park. Game Drive: You can embark on a half-day or full-day game drive through the park. Your drive will pass you past park landmarks such as the Momella Lakes and Ngurdoto Crater – sometimes known as ‘Little Ngorongoro’. Canoe Safari: Available at extra cost, you’ll trade the car for a canoe as you take a guided canoe safari out on the Momella Lakes to see bushbuck, giraffes, hippos, and buffalo. Walking Safari: Stretch your legs with a gudied walking safari through the park. While on your walking safari, you can expect to see endless acres of forest, home to black and white colobus monkeys, zebras, buffalos, and a varietyof antelopes. You will also have a chance to observe more than 400 bird species including the Crowned Eagle, Lanner Falcon, and Levaillants Cuckoo. Accommodation: Lodge in Arusha Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park You’ll depart from Arusha after breakfast for the approximately two-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. Along the way you’ll pass bustling Masai villages and the vast, open plains that have become synonymous with images of Africa. Once you’ve entered Tarangire, you’ll begin your game drive across a rich vista of endless golden savannah that surrounds the Tarangire River. The river itself runs throughout the year and is a vital source of water for the animals of the region during the dry season. Lined with acacia and Baobab trees, the river is regularly visited by the park’s large elephant population as well as other herbivores such as zebras and antelopes. A picnic lunch with a view of the river is a great way to take it all in, but you’ll have to keep on your toes as the local monkey population does its best to separate you from your lunch! Driving through the park you’ll also have the opportunity to see lions, leopards, cape buffalo, and a huge variety of antelopes. If you’re particularly lucky, you might even see endangered animals such as the Greater Kudu or the Fringe-Eared Oryx. Accommodation Type: After your day’s drive is done, will go to your camp or lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 3: Tarangire to Lake Manyara After breakfast, you’ll enter Lake Manyara, National Park. The park is truly a photographer’s playground and offers some of the best game viewing in the world. You can expect to see many of Africa’s most well-known animals, with the tree-climbing lions a particular treat. These proud predators lounge in acacia trees practically begging to be photographed. Bird-watchers will find Lake Manyara is an absolute delight, with a huge variety of birds on display in the park. Even the novice can expect to be amazed by large flamingo flocks, circling birds of prey, and the brightly coloured lilac breasted roller. Accommodation Type: Camp or Lodge Day 4: Lake Manyara to Lake Eyasi You’ll be up before breakfast today, as you’ll be joining the Hadzabe bushmen for the opportunity to hunt for your own food! One of the last true bushman tribes in Africa, the Hadzabe live very much as they always have despite the rapid development of Tanzania. With only 2,000 members, the Hadzabe tribe are a fascinating people who offer us a window into how life in Tanzania was in the past. The local hunters will prepare a demonstration of hunting techniques just for us. Far from being a mere performance, this display reveals a great deal about their everyday lives when they must hunt for animals to feed their families. You will see firsthand how the Hadzabe use distinctive motions and even the body parts of certain animals to lure their prey close enough that they can be brought down with hand-crafted poisons. After a late breakfast, you’ll have the opportunity for a drive around Lake Eyasi proper. While this shallow soda lake is not home to the same variety of wildlife you’ll find in a national park, you’ll have the chance to spot a variety of bird and mammal life. On occasion, flamingos and hippos even call the lake home. You’ll also have time to meet with the Datoga people. Mostly farmers and cattle breeders, these fascinating people offer another insight into tribal life in Tanzania. Once your day’s activities have been completed, you’ll make your way to Karatu Town for overnight. Accommodation Type: Camp or Lodge Day 5: Lake Eyasi to Ngorongoro Crater After breakfast, you’ll depart for Ngorongoro Crater; considered by some to be the Eighth Wonder of the World. When you get your first glimpse of this vast, verdant caldera from the panoramic viewpoint, you’ll soon understand why it has earned such a lofty reputation. Home to over 120 species of mammal including the fabled Big Five, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is one of the most sought-after safari destinations in the world. It’s a particularly good place to see the endangered black rhinoceros enjoying a lovely meal out on the grass plains, as well as a place to see large numbers of hippopotamus enjoying the cool water. From the comfort of your open-top vehicle, you’ll be able to observe and photograph some of Africa’s most recognisable faces. The crater is home to a large number of predators including lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, and hyenas, as well as a large population of wildebeest, zebras, antelope, cape buffalo, and more. It is truly one of Africa’s premier safari destinations. After your game drive at the crater, you will drive back to your camp or lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 6: Ngorongoro to Empakai Crater You’ll start your day with an early breakfast before heading out for your adventure at Empakai Crater. A short drive from the hustle and bustle of Arusha, the safari capital, to Lake Manyara National Park where, if luck is on your side you may see the famous tree climbing lions during your game drives of the garden of Eden. Day 1: Arrival JRO – Arusha Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport – you will be collected by your driver guide and transfer to Ahadi Lodge for dinner and overnight. O/n Green Mountain Lodge (D) Arusha is a city in East Africa’s Tanzania, located at the base of volcanic Mt. Meru. It’s a gateway to safari destinations and to Africa’s highest peak, 5,895m Mt. Kilimanjaro. Day 2: Manyara National Park After breakfast depart towards Lake Manyara National Park for game drives of this very diverse park. If you are lucky you may see the famous tree climbing lions. Picnic lunch in the bush followed by game drives until mid-afternoon – then slowly make your way out of the park and head to Isoitok Camp Manyara. Stretch your legs a bit – together with your local maasai guide hike up to the viewpoint where you enjoy the sunset with views across Lake Manyara. Return to the camp for bush-showers and relaxation around the camp fire. Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater Morning departure to the Ngorongoro Crater – descend into the crater for full day game drives of the crater floor. There are 25,000 large mammals residing in the park, elephants are mainly bulls, females stay out of the park due to the largest predator population in Africa. Black Rhino also make their home on the grassy plains, their numbers make up for almost half which can be found in East Africa about 20 in total. Leave the crater late afternoon and head up to the crater rim – continue to Rhino Lodge for dinner and overnight. O/n Rhino Lodge (B, L, D). Day 4: Seronera – central Serengeti After breakfast you head via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area towards the Serengeti plains – game drives en route to Seronera. Head over to the Rock Kopjes where you have good chances of seeing some of the cat families. Cheetah and lion use this giant rock out crops as observation posts. Mid afternoon head up towards Kisura Serengeti Camp located in central Serengeti – arrival in time for sundowner drinks. O/n Kisura Serengeti Camp (B, L, D). Day 5: Seronera – central Serengeti Optional: Early morning head out for a Balloon. View the Serengeti plains from a hot air Balloon followed by a champagne breakfast on the landing site. Full day game drives of the Serengeti – plan your day together with your driver guide who will best advice you when and where to go. O/n Kisura Serengeti Camp (B, L, D). Day 6: Northern Serengeti After breakfast you slowly start the drive towards the northern part of the park in order to try and catch a glimpse of the annual wildebeest migration – explore the rivers and head up to Serengeti North Wilderness Camp for relaxation and overnight.. Day 7: Northern Serengeti Dawn game drives of the area – return to the camp for breakfast followed by full day game drives or relaxation at the camp and head out on sunset game drives.
